Chanticleer Holdings was formed in 2005 as a business development company and converted to an operating holding company in 2008.

In 2011, Chanticleer and a group of noteworthy private equity investors, which included H.I.G. Capital, KarpReilly, LLC and Kelly Hall, president of Texas Wings Inc., the largest Hooters franchisee in the United States, acquired Hooters of America (HOA), a privately held company.  Today, HOA is an operator and the franchisor of over 412 Hooters® restaurants in 28 countries.  In addition to Chanticleer maintaining its ownership stake in HOA, its CEO, Mike Pruitt, is also a member of HOA's Board of Directors.

Today, Chanticleer Holdings is focused on expanding its brands internationally and domestically.

Chanticleer currently owns in whole or part of the exclusive franchise rights to develop and operate Hooters restaurants in South Africa, Hungary, U.K., and parts of Brazil, Oregon and Washington in the U.S., and has joint ventured with the current Hooters franchisee in Australia, while evaluating several additional international opportunities. The Company currently owns and operates in whole or part of twelve Hooters restaurants in all of its territories.

Chanticleer owns and operates two Hooters restaurants in the U.S. in Portland, OR and Tacoma, WA. Management has begun evaluating locations around the Portland and Seattle areas for future restaurant openings.  

Chanticleer owns and operates American Roadside Burgers with 5 locations; 1 location in Smithtown, NY; 2 locations in Charlotte, NC; 1 location in Columbia, SC; and 1 location in Greenville, SC.

The Company also owns a majority interest in Just Fresh Restaurants, a fresh food-focused casual dining establishment with 6 restaurant locations in Charlotte, NC.

Chanticleer owns and operates Spoon Bar & Kitchen located in Dallas, TX. Spoon Bar & Kitchen is a fine dining seafood restaurant by Chef John Tesar. The restaurant has received numerous awards from national publications including Conde Nast, Bon Appetite, and Esquire Magazine. Chanticleer intends to expand the Spoon brand into a new, fast-casual dining concept.
